Rock & Tree Work
This is a painting I worked on recently. It is 12x16 inches, oil on canvas panel. A scene from one of my Rocky Mountain photos taken in 2011. I may rework this in a larger size, with some adjustments to the tree arrangement.

Cloud Work
I decided to do some cloud work this summer. 8x10 inches, oil on gessoboard panel. Perhaps a bit too bold with some of the color?

Poppy Field: A Small Watercolor Sketch
Here is a quick watercolor sketch I did recently while thinking about Memorial Day. It is 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches.

The Love Plums...
The Love Plums...
Now, I know you probably aren't going to believe this, but these plums were indeed heart shaped. How could I not paint them? They were "yellow" plums from Chile. (I guess they were yellow on the inside.) I haven't seen them at the market since the day I bought these. 6"x8" inches, oil on canvas panel.

Watercolor sketch: Poolside Palm. (3.5"x5.5")
I've been doing some quick, small watercolor sketches on the days that I don't have time to work in oil. It is nice to work outdoors; soon the humidity will be too intense to enjoy this activity!

The Red Orange Pepper
This was a very orange pepper when I started, and it turned reddish as I progressed. It was quite a vibrant color, or range of colors! (And delicious.) This quick photo does have a bit of glare here and there, it is still just a bit wet. I'll put it on the scanner in a week or two and get a better image.
This is a 6"x6" oil painting on panel. What do you think?

Dusty Road Near Red River
A landscape I completed recently. This is an 8"x10" oil painting on a panel. It is based on a photograph I took during my travels in the summer of 2012, intending to paint the scene at a later time. I haven't done too many landscapes yet, but I'm finding that I do enjoy them! How about you?

Strawberries
Strawberries in oil on panel, 5 x 7 inches. These berries were more of a challenge than I expected. Now I'm happy with them, and have just been waiting for a bright day to photograph them. Today was a bright day!
Does it look too dark on your monitor? It is so hard to know if the photo looks OK on other monitors. I really need to work out a system for photographing these paintings. What is your method?

Paint Tube Organization - An Inexpensive Way
Here is an easy and inexpensive way to organize your paint tubes. I found this plastic case at Home Depot for about $5.
Remove the lid, you won't need that. But you could probably use that for something, a spare palette perhaps? If you are lucky enough to work with extra large tubes, there are larger cases similar to this at Home Depot (or any home improvement store.) I mostly work with 37-40 ml tubes, so this size works fine for me.
Now you will need to take apart the little dividers that are provided. I used an Exacto blade to trim off the little nibs so that the dividers will fit snugly into the slots.

Now all you have to do is insert the dividers into the slots of the box and put in your paint tubes. The tubes will be upright-- less leaking from the lids!
I like having all my reds, blues, yellows and neutrals grouped together. So nice to see all my colors at once!
Enjoy!

December Apple
Apple, from December 2012. In oil, 6" x 6" panel. There is a little photographic light reflection in the dark background near the apple. I'll be posting more new ones soon!
